I pick her up tomorrow but I couldn’t resist sneaking down to the dealership tonight for a peak. Tomorrow is going to be a long day at work.
Sadly no spoiler but more importantly no door trim or bumper guard! Spoilers can be added later, removing the guard and trim is more of a pain in the ass. Also that white dealer sticker has about 5 minutes to live once I get her home. If they put a black one on it might have lasted until Saturday.
I’m so much less stressed out about spending this much money now that I have seen the car.

It can be stressful to spend that kind of money, but getting a new reliable car is more than worth it.

I was really stressed out about it all week (this is the biggest purchase I have ever made by about $20k) but now that I have actually seen what that money is paying for I’m much happier. I can’t wait to see it in the sun tomorrow.

I thought they were gonna give you the spoiler. Damned dealerships

It was 50/50. Dealer it was delivered to listed spoiler and no rubber mats. Build sheet provided by the dealer listed no options. Car actually has rubber mats and no spoiler. Not a big deal to add the spoiler later, not having the bumper guard and door trim is far more important.

If it makes you feel any better, I wrote a larger check for the down payment on my M3.

The blue comes off kinda flat in the artificial light through an iPhone camera but should pop in the sun.

Dealer stickers add character. I hope you like the car!

If it was black it might stick around for a little while. The white just doesn’t work on the bright blue.
I actually have dealer sticker plans for this car. The dealer I bought this from used to be called Nordic Toyota until the early 90s. My father worked for them in the 80s and my grandfather actually designed their original logos and marketing. I’m hoping to reproduce one of their dealer stickers from the 80s when my father and grandfather were involved with the dealer to put on this car.

I’d call the dealer and tell them it needs to be off before you pick it up...

Nah, I’ll do it myself so they don’t scratch the hatch.

Now THAT is a fantastic idea. Please do that.

My grandfather had deep ties with the old Nordic dealership and when I figured out that Heritage is that same dealer at the same location just with a different name I had to explore the idea. My Grandfather actually competed in the original 1 Lap of America through the 80s in cars provided by Nordic.

I love that you’re so excited that you had to go visit her early...

That’s awesome! Can I see the old logo?

I was informed of the cars existence at the sister dealer before it was even off the truck. The delivery dealer never even got to take pictures of it before I had my deposit down and the transfer request in. I had to go take a look so I wouldn’t continue to be completely blind about what I was buying which was stressing me out.

This is the best I’ve got at the moment, it’s unsurprisingly hard to find evidence of a dealer that changed it’s name in 94 on the internet. My dad has more of the old artwork at home in MA.

Completely understand! It’s a lot of money, but should last you a long time and you’ll enjoy every drive. Very similar car to my ‘05 Mazda 3s hatch - I bought it new and drove it for 7 years and 90k miles. I could easily be driving and enjoying that car still today (I truly loved it), but decided to move on to something with more power (have now had my M3 for 7 years).
Hard to beat a light little tossable hatch!

That’s really nice. Your grandpa sounds like he was an awesome guy!

Hatches can’t be beat for daily driving fun.
The whole purpose of this car is to get a reliable daily that’s entertaining to drive and has a manual to be my daily for a long time. That way I don't have to worry about being forced into an automatic daily and can have entertaining hoopties as secondary vehicles.

Sounds like a perfect plan. I would’ve kept my car if Mrs. addiction would’ve been down with me pairing it will a little 2-seat sports car. She didn’t like that plan, so I went for One Car To Do It All.

Me goofing around with you turned into a very neat story. Thank you for sharing!
If I purchase a Volvo, I want a frame, plate, or sticker for what the local dealer used to be called (it was also my name, which is funny). However, the dealer changed ownership in 2003. I saw a Bill Heard plate frame on a 2014 Express, so anything can work!
